Nature’s Gold is delighted to stock our very own 100% raw Australian active Manuka honey 30. Harvested from the East Coast of Australia, every batch is University tested and awarded a strength rating. Our Manuka honey is available in different MGO ratings right up to a very potent MGO 1450.

Manuka honey is fast becoming known as liquid gold. What makes it so special is its unique non-peroxide activity NPA. This naturally occurring chemical process boosts the antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Manuka honey is mono-floral, meaning it is made from one species of flower. It is produced by bees that have fed on the Leptospermum tree, which flowers fewer than six weeks a year and grows wild in Australia and New Zealand. While Manuka honey has only recently come under the spotlight, its use dates back centuries as a traditional Indigenous medicine.

Our Australian Manuka Honey is rated using the MGO system, which is an abbreviation for Methylglyoxal. Every batch of Manuka honey must be lab tested to determine its activity and how potent its active enzymes are. The higher the MGO number, the higher the antibacterial activity and natural enzymes.

If you open a jar of Nature's Gold raw Manuka Honey and there is foam on the top - this is due to air bubbles trapped in the honey during the aeration process and packaging. When the packaged honey rests, the air bubbles work their way up to the top of the container, creating the foam. There is nothing wrong with the honey or the foam. Read More

Please note: It is recommended that honey should not be given to children under 12 months old because of the high MGO.

If you’re looking to buy premium quality Manuka Honey MGO 30 online, look no further than Nature’s Gold. For the last two decades, we’ve been producing Manuka honey at our family-run business in Queensland. We ship our honey all over Australia and further afield, so wherever you are in the world, you can enjoy genuine Manuka honey with MGO 30 that’s been produced with love and care.

What’s So Special About Manuka Honey 30?

If you’re not sure how Manuka honey differs from other types of honey, let us explain. After all, there are so many different varieties of honey, such as Clover and Wildflower honey to more unusual varieties such as Alfalfa, Buckwheat and Eucalyptus. As you can probably guess, it’s all down to where the bees collect their nectar.

To be called Manuka honey in New Zealand, the nectar must be collected from Leptospermum Scoparium also known as Manuka, part of the larger plant family Leptospermum. In Australia, we have over 80 varieties of Leptospermum and our active Manuka honey can come from any of those varieties. The advantage of this is that some of these varieties have much higher concentrations of Methylglyoxal (MGO), the active ingredient that gives Manuka honey its medicinal properties.

Manuka honey is the only honey that is scientifically proven to have medicinal qualities. The active ingredient, Methylglyoxal was found by Dr Peter Molan in 1981 during his research into the properties of different kinds of honey from around the world. To ensure that our MGO 30 Manuka honey has the correct concentration, every batch is harvested from our own bees on the East Coast of Australia and is university tested before being certified and awarded its strength rating. So, you can rest assured, that when you buy through us, you’re always getting genuine Manuka honey of the highest quality.

What Does MGO 30 in Manuka Honey Mean?

Let’s explain a little more about MGO. It’s simply a rating to show the concentration of Methylglyoxal in the honey. The higher the MGO number, the higher the concentration of Methylglyoxal. Honey with lower MGO numbers has the same qualities as those with higher concentrations but is just not as potent.

So, Manuka MGO 30 means that it has 30mg of Methylglyoxal per kilogram. This is actually the lowest MGO concentration we sell here at Nature’s Gold and is recommended for adding flavour to food and drinks. It’s especially delicious when used as a natural sweetener in smoothies and on cereals. We also offer honey in other MGO concentrations ranging all the way to MGO 829. Plus, we have super-strength honey available with MGOs of 1000+.
